Derrick Washington, the founder of EI, recently started BLACC — the Black, Latino, Asian Cultural Coalition — at Souza Baranowski, the state’s maximum security prison. One of the goals of BLACC is to invite elected officials and community members into Souza to raise the civic awareness and participation of the people who are incarcerated there.
